This construction holds the record for the world's tallest building for a whopping 3,800 years. You can witness millions of rocks were used to build it, and it sparkled in the sun.

Witness Ancient Egypt's Iconic Symbol

Keeping watch, next to the Great Pyramid is the Sphinx, which is a giant statue with a lion's body and a human head. The Great Sphinx was built around 2500 BC. Pharaoh Khafre made the Sphinx to guard his pyramid tomb and maybe even act as a super strong sun god. The hot desert wind and sand have blown on the Sphinx for a long time, but it is still a great reminder of how powerful and mysterious ancient Egypt was.

The Resting Place of Pharaoh Khafre's Spirit

The Valley Temple was built around 2550 BC by Pharaoh Khafre, the same pharaoh who built the Sphinx and the second-largest Pyramid in Egypt. The Temple was like a special rest stop closer to the Nile River for the Pharaoh's mummy after it left the pyramid. The walls were decorated with hieroglyphics showing the king's journey to the afterlife.

Long before the pyramids we know, way back in 2670 BC, Egyptians built a pyramid with steps at Saqqara. This unique pyramid was the first building ever made of stone, as nobody had ever seen before, and called the "Saqqara Pyramid". They thought the steps helped Pharaoh Djoser climb to the sky after death. Over time, Saqqara became a cemetery with tombs and temples, a super special place for ancient Egyptians to connect with the afterlife.

Home to the God Ptah and Egypt's Spiritual Heart

Memphis is an ancient city in Egypt that thrived for thousands of years (around 3100 BC). It was a major religious center, and people believed in the god Ptah, who created everything and watched over the city. Temples were built to honor Ptah here; Memphis was a very important spiritual place for ancient Egyptians. Even though it's ruined today, Memphis is still a fascinating reminder of how ancient and spiritual Egypt truly is.

Just imagine a very old church in the Rocky Mountains of Sinai. Saint Catherine's Monastery was built way back by a king named Justinian. People have been going there to pray for almost 1500 years. If you visit, you can see amazing icons on the walls and ancient books with special writing. Visiting the Monastery of Saint Catherine will be a peaceful and amazing trip that will make you see the world in a whole new way.

Enjoy a green place with palm trees in the middle of the desert. This cool oasis has refreshing springs for a dip after a day of exploring and lots of date palms growing around for a taste of the local bounty. You can also find lots of date palms growing around and swaying in the breeze right in the middle of the desert. Unlike the hot, dry sand everywhere else, Bahariya is full of life. You can even find ancient tombs and ruins to explore, like a trip back in time.

Salah El-Din Citadel is an important castle on a hill that keeps Cairo safe; it was built way back in 1183. Sultan Salah El-Din put it there to protect the city, like a superhero. There is much to see inside the castle walls; you can visit beautiful mosques, like the one with white walls called the Mosque of Muhammad Ali. If you love history, check out the National Military Museum, full of amazing things from the past. And there is even a place called the Al-Gawhara Palace, where kings used to live.

Khan El Khalili is a famous market that was built in the 1300s; it is like a maze filled with colorful shops. Walk Through Ancient Cairo's Spirit

Al-Muizz Street is a street that is so historic; it's like an outdoor museum. Al-Muizz li-Din Allah Street was built in 969 AD. It's a walk-through Islamic history packed with amazing buildings from different times. Think beautiful mosques with towering minarets, schools called madrasas and even ancient palaces beside each other. You can grab a coffee at a famous cafe, witness amazing art, or explore ancient tombs. If you are in Cairo and want to feel the spirit of the past, Al-Muizz Street is a must-see.
